The work the data should already be doing.

School leaders are accountable to a framework built for continuous improvement. The data to evidence it already exists, in Scout, NAPLAN, Check-in, NPSS, and your internal systems. It just doesn’t arrive structured to the School Excellence Framework.

14

elements

Three domains. Each element needs evidence, narrative, and an on-balance judgement against the SEF descriptors, every year.

40 - 80

hours / year

Executive hours lost to the annual SEF cycle. Even the DoE classifies it as very high workload.

6+

data sources

Scout, NAPLAN, Check-in, NPSS, HSC, NESA RAP, plus internal systems. The data exists. It just doesn’t arrive structured to the SEF.

One service. Mapped to the cycle you’re in.

The SEF Report is a written analytical document, mapped to each domain and element of the framework. We deliver it annually to support your annual Self-Assessment Survey, and on the four-year cycle to support your External Validation. The deliverable is the same shape either way.

Annual SEF Report

We write the analysis before your Self-Assessment Survey falls due. It covers all three domains and fourteen elements, sets an on-balance judgement for each against the SEF descriptors, and recommends where to focus.

  • Element-by-element coverage
  • On-balance judgements
  • Executive summary and recommended priorities

External Validation support

Every four years your school submits annotated evidence across all fourteen elements. We prepare the analysis the validation panel will read, benchmarked against your statistically similar school group and traced across the full cycle.

  • SSSG benchmarking
  • Four-year evidence triangulation
  • External validation ready evidence sets

Equity and cohort analysis

We break the results down by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, low SES, EAL/D background, disability, and year group. The framework expects these gaps to narrow, and the report shows you exactly where each one sits.

  • Equity group breakdowns
  • Cohort and year-level patterns
  • Gap closure tracking

SEP progress tracking

We measure each year against the improvement targets in your School Excellence Plan: attendance, NAPLAN growth, the share of HSC results in the top bands, and post-school pathways. The reporting is done for you.

  • Attendance trends
  • NAPLAN growth measures
  • HSC top-band tracking

How a SEF Report comes together.

Clear sequence, close collaboration with your executive team, the analytical work done before you need it.

  1. 01

    Discovery and scope

A scoping conversation about the data you hold, what matters most to your executive team, and where you sit in the cycle. We agree the scope, timeline, price, and a written data sharing agreement before anything moves.

  2. 02

    We analyse

We work through it element by element: SSSG benchmarking, equity group breakdowns, growth measures, and on-balance judgements against the SEF descriptors. We stay honest about where the data is strong, partial, or weak.

  3. 03

    Deliver and support

A designed report in your chosen format, walked through with your executive team. We answer follow-up questions for a defined period after delivery, then confirm verified data deletion in writing.

A note on student data

We work with de-identified data only. We do not request or retain personally identifying information about students or staff; records are aggregated or pseudonymised before they reach us. All data is held in encrypted storage on AWS infrastructure located in Australian regions and is never transferred offshore. It is used solely for the analysis defined in your engagement, for no other purpose, and is never sold, shared with, or accessed by any third party. On completion of the engagement, all data and derived working files are permanently destroyed, with deletion confirmed to you in writing. Our handling is governed by a written data sharing agreement and is designed to align with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable NSW Department of Education data requirements.

Get the next cycle off your desk.

Scout shows you the data. Generic consultancies learn the SEF on your dime. Doing it yourself competes with the teaching and learning work that has to come first. We sit in that gap, and only in that gap: the analysis structured to the framework, written before you need it, walked through with your team.

See exactly what you’d get before you commit a single data export. No obligation.

  • We live in the framework

Every judgement is anchored in the descriptor language, element by element across all three domains. The analysis a validation panel will recognise, not a generic data dashboard.

  • Honest about the limits

We tell you plainly where the evidence is strong, partial, or weak. You walk into validation knowing exactly what you can defend, and where to be careful.

  • Nothing to run

No platform to buy, learn, or maintain. You receive a written report, walked through with your executive team, ready for the Self-Assessment Survey and External Validation.

  • Your data, handled cleanly

De-identified data only, secured on Australian servers, destroyed on completion with written confirmation. Documented and auditable from the first export.
